Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson Book Review

This was an amazing emotional book.
We follow a girl called Melinda who is starting high school but the summer just before that something tragic happened that changed her life forever.
She is starting high school with no friends. doubt and is constantly thinking about what happens, she just wants to disappear.
Melinda decided to stop speaking all together to see if anyone really notices. They don’t, but in the end it doesn’t work and she is forced to speak again, but there is nothing really she wants to say.
In the end of the book we find out what happened to her in that summer before school and why all her old friends now don’t speak to her.

I did watch the movie many times before the book as the movie is one of my favourite movies ever. I loved the book, maybe not as much as the film for some reason, but it will still deep and meaningful.

I recommend this book to anyone that likes coming of age, secrets and heart ache in the worst way.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars on goodreads.
